From the inventor of the modern emulsifier Customer-driven development Although Palsgaard has invented and patented several emulsifiers during the years, we haven’t been resting on our laurels. In fact we’ve developed close to 100 different emulsifier systems for margarine alone, each custom designed to face the challenges posed by the different types of margarine. By the use of the extensive capabilities of Nexus, our research and development organisation, we constantly seek to develop new versions of not only our existing emulsifiers but also other types of emulsifiers for various applications are under consideration and development. Our research and development activities reflect a doubleedged approach to innovation: We do more than simply adjust the formulation of existing emulsifiers to fit the needs of our customers – we also develop new ones from scratch and we help customers implement them into their recipes or applications – often on site. Putting it all together R&D projects frequently involve both Nexus scientists and Palsgaard application specialists forming dedicated groups to match the exact needs of each specific project. Our projects may focus, for example, on how processing resources are best utilized, how to manage the environmental impacts of food production, or how new or improved products and production processes can be developed.
